Description ofthe trip
The virtual field trip to Ellis Island shows how the immigrants weremoving from various countries heading to the United States. Theimmigrants came from distinct countries, such as Russia, Italy andPoland among other (Bloemraad, 2006). The reason the immigrants movedfrom their countries was due to poverty and religious persecutionamong others. The immigrants used horseback, foot or even train sothat they could reach the Ellis Island. They were determined to getgreen pasture. Upon arriving, they were asked some few questions anda medical examination that lasted for only 6 seconds was conducted.The immigrants were crowded in the island hoping the officers in theimmigration sector are going to allow them to enter into the UnitedStates. Upon observation, the target audiences were studentssearching for knowledge when illegal immigration started. The virtual field trip shows high quality features such as audio–conferencing (Portolese Dias and Trumpy, 2014). This featurepermits the student to listen and learn about the immigrants. Thevirtual trip gives the students and researchers the opportunity toexplore the design and the means of the transport that was usedduring that period, and thus, an effective tool for elementarylearners. The virtual trip is easily accessible since one does notneed any special program to access the trip.
The overall rating of virtual field trip to Ellis Island is 99percent if not 100 percent. This is because it gives clear detailsconcerning the immigrants. Additionally, there are navigation buttonsthat allows one to get the information that he or she needs. Thechanges I recommend for the virtual trip to be successful and becomelively is video-conferencing since it will show immigrants and theimmigrant’s officers communicating one on one (Karis, Wildman andMané, 2016).
