Ina group setting, each member can play various roles. The roles can bedivided into either task roles or maintenance roles. Some of theroles included in the task category include information giver/seeker,initiator, elaborator, Opinion giver/seeker, evaluator, orienter,coordinator, and recorder. The maintenance roles include compromiser,harmonizer, commentator, standard setter, gatekeeper, and follower(Cress,Collier & Reitenauer, 2013).In a group milieus, I am more likely to be a compromiser where I tryto get an agreeable solution.
Resultof the questions indicates that I am a moderately effective teammember (Cragan,Wright & Kasch, 2009).This means that I have an average performance in terms of playing allroles that commensurate with the functioning of a group. I excel inareas of relevant knowledge skills and abilities, expecting qualityfrom the group performance, and keeping the team on track. Areas thatI need to work on are making contribution to the team, andinteracting with other teammates.
Whenlooking at the group dynamics, content is the reason behind comingtogether of the group (e.g. to collaborate ideas, or to a dress arising issue), while process refers to the way in which the groupfunction together. A group leader plays a central role. Some of theaspects of process that group leader needs to be aware of includeconflict resolution techniques (to handle any arising issue), goodcommunication (to avoid hurting some members), and responsibilitysharing (to prevent friction between members in sharing theresponsibilities) (Levi,2011).
