Collaborativetechnologies or collaborative soft wares basically relate with thenotion of collaborative work. Ideally, collaboration is bringingtogether of skill and expertise by different people to achieve acommon goal. Subsequently, collaborative technology is provision of aplatform where people can come together without necessarily havingthe people being in the same location. This collaboration takes placethrough the interface provided by these technologies whether formalor not. Basically, collaboration technologies use the internet tosend information from one side to the other. Emailis one of the most common collaborative technologies. Emails are aform of communication that facilitates the sending of messages fromone individual or institution to another. Emails heavily relay oninternet connection to be effective. Audio conferencing is alsoanother major form collaborative technology. As the name suggests,video conferencing allows for people to come together and hold aconference only that the people in the conference do not necessarilyhave to be in the same location. This technology allows for bothverbal and visual communication between the two parties.Additionally, audio conferencing is also another technology that hasbeen widely accepted in the corporate world.

Audioconferencing as the name suggests, involves the exchange of audioinformation from one party to another. It heavily relies on theinternet and in satellite signals to send information from one deviceto another. Emails only provide for exchange of written informationas opposed to video conferencing. Ideally, emails are limited topeople who can read and write in a common language as opposed tovideo conferencing where the reading and writing skills are notnecessarily required to send information. For instance a company thathas its headquarters in a country like China, where they write inChinese but also acquire some english language for communication. Aperson in the head quarter would prefer a video conference where theycan speak but not write in english as opposed to writing emails.Audio conferencing on the other hand, only limits the users to verbalcommunication as opposed to video conferencing that one cancommunicate both verbally and visually. A video conference would betherefore considered more effective in an organization situation ascompared to audio conferencing. One of the major strengths of emailsis that it takes a small fraction of time to send crucial informationfrom location to another or within the same location. The otherstrength of the emails is that the privacy of the information beingsent is assured. That is because the email sent within anorganization is limited to the people with login in information tothe organizations portal. Strength with emails is the accuracy ofinformation. Unlike in video conferences where one cannot conferindividual messages to that would not need the audience of otheremployees but individuals, emails offer that allowance.

Informationpassed through emails is backed up automatically. Therefore thisinformation can be used for future reference. Nonetheless, emails areprone hacks where people with malicious intentions can unlawfullygain access to the emails and get information would be consideredprivate. Additionally emails are only limited to writtencommunication even if one can send videos or images it is not done inreal time. Video conferences come in handy in organizations as itsave the funds that would have otherwise be used in travelling of thepeople that would be required to attend the conference. An additionalstrength is in the fact that it allows for exchange of informationboth visual and audio information it is therefore not limited towriting or listening (Dorner &amp Kumar, 2016).

Nonetheless,this collaborative technology is also expensive to acquire. That isdue to the fact that for transmition to happen there are the requiredgadgets like the screens and the microphones in addition toavailability of internet connection. The video conferences alsorequire skilled personnel in handling the gadgets involved. That isbecause the connection of the gadgets affects the probability of itfunctioning. Therefore, with faulty connection the video conferencescannot take place unlike with emails where one only needs a laptop ora computer and internet connection.

Audioconferencing on the other hand has a major merit that it is lesscomplex compared to video conferencing. Audio conferencing doesrequire the internet since it mostly happens when people are in thesame location for instance they can be in the same building butdifferent offices. It only therefore only requires the connection ofthe audio devices. A weakens in the audio conferencing is that it isonly limited to people within the same location as opposed to othertechnologies like the video conferencing. Information passed in theaudio conferencing can also not be recorded for future referenceunless there are gadgets that are purchased for that purpose unlikein the emails collaborative technology where the emails areautomatically stored for future reference without necessarilypurchasing additional devices.
